About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead projects and program actions, directing junior engineers to support the Statement of Work
- Define requirements and approve tools, equipment, materials, and processes for engineering design and manufacture
- Advise stakeholders on the properties and fabrication of metal and composite parts
- Perform drawing reviews for structural components, parts, and processes
- Partner with suppliers, fabrication teams, and design IPTs to review contamination and implementation practices
- Conduct routine analysis and testing to determine performance and address process challenges
- Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
- Incorporate environmental health, safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into all research and design work
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
- 5+ years of materials, structural, or chemical engineering experience in a related technical field
- Knowledge of material processing for metals and polymers
- Experience with composite lay-up and autoclave curing
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering environments
- Working knowledge of CFR 25.601 and DO-160
- Proficiency in CATIA or Enovia for reviewing engineering documents
- Experience with requirements flow down and communicating results to leadership
- Knowledge of corrosion principles and advanced design concepts like DFM/A
- Familiarity with analytical laboratory instruments and metrology techniques
