Material Specialist

Responsibilities

• Use handheld computers and inventory logs to count supplies, perform data entry, and create orders
• Receive, unpack, and verify shipments, entering all receipts into the Materials Management system
• Deliver packages and medical gas tanks to requesting departments, ensuring signatures are obtained
• Maintain inventory levels in patient care areas and ancillary departments
• Process and deliver common carrier and prime vendor packages
• Organize and label supply carts and maintain orderly storage rooms
• Prepare and stage returns and manage warehouse/dock communications

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to lift 50 lbs of free-weight and/or push 450 lbs on wheels for short distances
• Basic mathematical and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with personal computers; experience with handheld computers preferred
• Ability to prioritize assignments and work without direct supervision
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful setting while providing excellent customer service

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of inventory management principles and receiving processes
• Experience working with disposable hospital supplies
