Material Specialist

Responsibilities

• Use handheld computers and inventory logs to count supplies, perform data entry, and conduct warehouse cycle counts
• Receive, unpack, and verify shipments, ensuring all items are entered into the Materials Management system
• Process and deliver common carrier and prime vendor packages to various hospital departments
• Maintain organized supply storage rooms and nurse servers according to prescribed stock levels and locations
• Log and accurately deliver packages and medical gas tanks to requesting departments, obtaining necessary signatures
• Answer warehouse/dock phones and process departmental orders through the MMIS
• Prepare and stage returns and organize supply carts

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Ability to lift 50 pounds of free-weight and/or push 450 pounds on wheels for short distances
• Strong mathematical and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently without direct supervision
• Proficiency with personal computers; experience with handheld computers is preferred
• Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced, stressful setting

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of inventory management principles and receiving processes
• Familiarity with disposable hospital supplies
