Material Specialist - Airfield

Responsibilities

• Manage, monitor, and control construction materials for a major airport airfield and runway development project
• Review and process material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and aviation authority standards (ICAO/FAA)
• Coordinate field and laboratory testing for soils, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, and other civil materials
• Review test results and verify compliance with approved mix designs and specifications
• Lead technical reviews of Prequalification Documentation (PQD) for suppliers, manufacturers, and testing agencies
• Provide technical input during the Design Review Process to ensure material durability and long-term performance
• Monitor batching plant operations to ensure consistency and compliance with approved designs
• Identify non-conforming materials and support corrective and preventive actions
• Maintain material tracking logs, test registers, and approval records
• Prepare technical reports, material compliance summaries, and project updates

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of experience in materials engineering or materials quality control
• Strong knowledge of construction materials including soil, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, BS, and aviation-related material standards
• Experience with airfield pavement materials and high-performance concrete
• Proficiency in MS Office and technical reporting
• Experience with document control systems such as Aconex or similar
• Ability to analyze test data and identify compliance trends

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on airport, airfield, runway, or large-scale highway projects
• Knowledge of asphalt and concrete plant operations
• Certification in materials testing or quality management
