About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in solder materials, investigating and supporting applied and fundamental solder joining technologies.
- Lead the Material Specifications initiative, managing the 7000 material specifications owned by Sandia.
- Perform advanced materials characterization, metallurgical analyses, and failure analysis.
- Manage projects including budget and personnel management to support production plant needs and cross-complex initiatives.
- Interface with key stakeholders including KCNSC, Pantex, weapons systems leadership, and NNSA customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Active DOE Q security clearance or DOD equivalent.
- Experience with materials characterization techniques and metallurgical analysis.
- Ability to work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Materials Science or a highly related field.
- Experience in a research and development (R&D) environment.
- Specific experience with solder materials, microelectronic components, or printed circuit boards.
- Experience working with Production Realization Teams (PRTs) or Stockpile Systems.
- Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous technical projects and communicate findings to diverse teams.
