Material Handling Equipment Technician III

Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe operation, daily monitoring, and maintenance of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and industrial batteries
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on the MHE fleet, including checking oil levels, adjusting belts and chains, and troubleshooting electrical controls
• Execute electrical repairs, welding projects, and repairs to contactors and relays
• Troubleshoot PLC (programmable logic controller) systems and electrical controls (AC/DC)
• Maintain mechanical systems including transmissions, drive units, braking systems, and telescopic masts
• Assist battery technicians with charger repairs, battery changes, watering, and acid spill clean-up
• Log all time and materials into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily
• Train and mentor MHE Technician I and II levels
• Participate in the departmental on-call program as designated

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• Six years of experience in an MHE maintenance position or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Valid state Driver's License with proof of liability coverage
• MHE maintenance certificate (8-hour manufacturer certificate from providers like Crown, Raymond, or Hyster)
• Proficiency in electrical meter testing and knowledge of PLC troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and schematics (hydraulic and electrical)
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
