Material Handler Tech

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain coal handling systems and heavy equipment, including bulldozers, stackers, conveyors, and rail unloading systems.
• Manage coal inventory through the safe and efficient operation of stationary and mobile heavy equipment.
• Perform mechanical maintenance activities and housekeeping within the Material Handling area.
• Adhere to all location safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Participate in specialty team training, such as Fire Brigade, Confined Space, Rescue, and Hazmat response.
• Utilize computer-controlled systems and work management software for daily operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical, electrical, or I&C (Instrumentation and Control) fields.
• Basic computer skills, including Windows applications and email.
• Ability to pass a respiratory physical and work in confined spaces.
• Successful completion of EEI's Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) or Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, in various weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet a 325-pound weight restriction for safe equipment operation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree.
• 3+ years of experience in power plant mechanical maintenance or operations.
• Direct experience operating bulldozers or excavators.
