Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, negotiate, and purchase steel required for production processes
• Verify incoming material certifications to ensure they meet required standards
• Perform regular plant walk-arounds to review receipts, schedules, and inventories
• Communicate with suppliers and receiving departments to manage inbound steel schedules
• Troubleshoot payables issues with the accounting department
• Assist with inventory counts for steel, weld wire, stamping lubricants, and DS tubes
• Organize steel shippers, certifications, NAFTAs, and certificates of origin for overseas shipments
• Run plant inventory and post data to Martinrea Central
• Coordinate with corporate metallurgy and independent labs for flat steel sample testing

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university
• 4 to 10 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• In-depth knowledge of the steel industry and metallurgical knowledge of steel
• General knowledge of the automotive industry
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and inventory management systems (CMS)
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
• Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and adapt to an ever-changing environment
