Material Handler I

Responsibilities

• Load and unload various size containers including totes, drums, tankers, and trailers
• Construct boxes, fiber containers, and stacks, and label loads
• Use tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, and jackhammers
• Transport hazardous waste materials within the facility
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and containers according to RCRA guidelines
• Complete necessary paperwork for material processing and transportation
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Inspect material handling equipment

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED preferred
• 3 to 6 months of experience in hazardous waste or chemical industry preferred
• Proficiency in handling forklifts and various tools
• Ability to communicate through reading and writing
• Trained in the use of material handling equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER training
