Material Engineer

Responsibilities

• Review and approve construction materials as per project specifications and standards
• Coordinate with procurement team for material submittals and approvals
• Ensure all materials comply with approved drawings, BOQ, and technical specifications
• Conduct and supervise material testing for concrete, steel, and aggregates through labs
• Maintain records of material approvals, test reports, and inspection logs
• Monitor material usage at site and control wastage
• Liaise with consultants for material approvals and inspections
• Evaluate new materials and suppliers/vendors
• Ensure proper storage and handling of materials at site
• Prepare material reconciliation reports and consumption analysis
• Support QA/QC team in audits and inspections
• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in building construction projects
• Strong knowledge of construction materials and testing standards (ASTM, BS, ACI, etc.)
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic knowledge of construction software
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and BOQs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on high-rise or commercial projects
• Familiarity with local and international construction standards
• Previous experience in coordination with consultants and labs
