Material Buyer

Responsibilities

• Analyze raw material purchase requirements based on MRP, promotions, and forecasts.
• Release supplier orders and expedite materials to ensure timely delivery to the Nogales operations center.
• Maintain continuous interaction with domestic and international suppliers and internal stakeholders including Planning, Engineering, Logistics, and Quality.
• Monitor and resolve issues related to purchase order receipts and quality discrepancies.
• Track and report on key purchasing metrics such as past due POs, supplier scorecards, and receipt forecasts.
• Perform inventory analysis (DSI) and negotiate Minimum Order Quantities (MOQ) to reduce aging inventory.
• Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives to strengthen and optimize the supply chain.
• Manage NPI (New Product Introduction) requirements, including reviewing ECOs and requesting samples or drawings for FAIR and PPAP processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing purchasing and inventory planning.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
• Proven experience using ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or JD Edwards).
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Experience with NPI processes and technical drawing interpretation.
• Familiarity with VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) schemes.
