About the role

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, design, and modify masonry, concrete, and tile work for campus buildings, walkways, and related structures.
  • Set up jobs by collecting and preparing supplies and equipment, including cement mixers, stone, brick mortar, and adhesives.
  • Perform concrete cutting, coring, pouring, and finishing tasks.
  • Inspect completed projects and submit accurate labor and material charges.
  • Provide direction to semi-skilled and unskilled workers while establishing and maintaining safety procedures.
  • Recognize and report signs of damage or deterioration in building foundations, retaining walls, and walkways.
  • Operate standard masonry tools and equipment such as core-boring machines, jackhammers, and air compressors.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in concrete set up and finishing.
  • Journey-level masonry experience with demonstrated ability to perform operational tasks.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical language, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of masonry tools, equipment, materials, and methods.
  • Satisfactory completion of a certified trade-related apprenticeship program or equivalent experience and education.
  • Valid California noncommercial Class C Driver's License.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently and up to 90 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and at heights.
