About the role
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and execution of conceptual, visually compelling campaigns for News and All Access subscription offerings.
- Design and adapt campaign creative across paid, owned, and earned channels, including digital, social, email, in-app, and OOH.
- Translate in-product experiences and key feature benefits into clear marketing assets that drive engagement and habitual use.
- Support the adaptation and extension of major brand campaigns in collaboration with creative leaders and agency partners.
- Develop and maintain scalable visual systems, templates, and libraries to enable rapid testing and iteration.
- Partner cross-functionally with writers, art directors, marketers, and product designers to ship high-performing creative.
- Articulate design rationale to stakeholders and leadership, staying adaptable to shifts in the news cycle or business needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on graphic design experience at an advertising agency, digital agency, studio, or in-house team.
- A design portfolio demonstrating sharp execution and conceptual thinking across social, digital display, email, and print.
- High proficiency in typography, layout, hierarchy, and color with a refined aesthetic and strong attention to detail.
- Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, including well-organized files for collaboration.
- Hands-on experience with motion and animation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in subscription, media, or content businesses.
- Experience with video editing software and knowledge of on-set video production for social channels.
- A degree (B.A., B.F.A., or M.F.A.) in graphic design, visual communication, or a related discipline.
- A genuine interest in and connection to the mission of independent journalism.
