Marine Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Manage the profitability, growth, and sustainability of the Marine & Specialty portfolio
• Evaluate and underwrite complex Marine & Specialty risks within delegated authority
• Provide technical guidance on coverage, policy wording, risk assessment, and pricing
• Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, and key clients
• Identify market trends and customer needs to support product innovation
• Mentor and develop junior underwriters and underwriting support staff
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal underwriting guidelines

Requirements

• 8–10 years of Marine and/or Specialty underwriting experience
• Proven experience managing a portfolio with accountability for growth and profitability
• Strong understanding of Marine Cargo, Marine Liability, Freight Liability, Hull, Yacht, and Specialty insurance products
• Demonstrated experience dealing with brokers and commercial clients
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous leadership, mentoring, or team management experience
• Experience working within multinational insurance companies
• Professional insurance qualification (AMII, ACII, or equivalent)
• Experience in product development, portfolio management, or strategic planning
