High School Diploma or equivalent, Valid Michigan driver’s license, Knowledge of Michigan Marine Law, Physical fitness, CPL certification
About the role
Responsibilities
- Enforce Michigan Marine Safety Laws and promote safe boating practices on county waterways
- Patrol county waters during peak recreational periods (Memorial Day to Labor Day)
- Investigate water-related incidents and provide assistance to boaters
- Conduct public boating and ORV safety classes year-round
- Collaborate with area first responders during emergencies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver’s license
- Knowledge of Michigan Marine Law
- Physical fitness and ability to handle water-related emergencies
- Ability to pass extensive background checks and drug testing
- Proficiency in report writing and LEIN certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous law enforcement experience
- Familiarity with Kent County geography and local waterways
- Experience operating and trailering various types and sizes of watercraft
