Mapping Operations Lead

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of mapping specialists, managing workloads and maintaining production schedules for map build and update cycles
• Own the weekly and sprint-level production calendar, balancing new area requests, quality improvements, and field test support
• Run daily standups and triage sessions to escalate blockers and make real-time prioritization decisions
• Mentor specialists and conduct technical reviews to establish standards for map labeling, QC, and documentation
• Serve as the primary escalation point for map data issues, performing initial triage and routing tasks to engineering teams
• Coordinate with engineers to validate HD map accuracy within simulation environments
• Close the loop with operations and safety teams to ensure field feedback improves map coverage and quality

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in HD map production, geospatial data operations, or a related field in autonomous vehicles or robotics
• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating a team of technical contributors
• Strong understanding of HD map data formats such as OpenDRIVE or NDS
• Experience working with point cloud data, 3D visualization environments, or lidar-based annotation tools
• Familiarity with simulation environments like CARLA or LGSVL
• Proficiency with data tooling such as SQL, C++, Python, or QGIS
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LiDAR point clouds and camera-based feature extraction
• Experience with standard definition (SD) street network data
• Background in AV safety operations
• Familiarity with JIRA for tracking production backlogs
