Manufacturing/Fabrication Engineer

Responsibilities

• Conduct calculations and analyses to support design specifications and requirements
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including ASTM, ASME, AWS, GD&T, QS9000, and ISO14001
• Assist in developing reactor core component replacement and core alignment plans
• Prepare material specifications and provide technical support for procurement
• Oversee procurement and fabrication of critical reactor vessel components
• Ensure fabrication packages and engineering drawings meet RRD Configuration Management requirements
• Provide design support and drawing review to enhance component manufacturability
• Work with vendors to develop testing and inspection plans and witness testing in person
• Document and resolve nonconformance and deviations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• At least 10 years of experience in manufacturing, materials science, or a related field
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
• Deep understanding of machining, fabrication, welding, and inspection techniques
• Hands-on experience with CNC lathes, precision OD grinding, forging presses, and heat treatment equipment
• Proficiency with relevant codes such as ASTM, ASME, GD&T (ASME Y14.5), QS9000, and ISO14001
• Experience with supplier management for large-scale, high-complexity components
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software like SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of Configuration Management and Fabrication Control processes
