Manufacturing Technician - Thin film Optical Coating

Responsibilities

• Manufacture optical thin films deposited onto optical elements for the WESCAM MX-series product line
• Analyze and interpret complex optical schematics to ensure precise execution of assembly and testing
• Inspect, clean, and load coating chambers while troubleshooting complex optical components
• Diagnose and troubleshoot spherical, aspheric, and plano optical components (visible and IR)
• Collaborate with engineers and senior technicians to investigate faults and drive process improvements
• Maintain meticulous documentation of maintenance, test results, and vacuum coating chamber PMs
• Manage multiple priorities and manufacturing testing tasks to meet critical production goals

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years of experience in an optical vacuum coating discipline
• Ability to read and interpret optical and mechanical drawings
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and safely handle delicate optical parts
• Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program of Canada

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an ISO 9000, AS9100, or Lean Manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
• Experience operating complicated equipment such as CNC, humidity chambers, and coating chambers
