About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve in-house software tools used for the design, prototyping, analysis, and manufacturing of complex optical systems.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical planning to improve interoperability across internal applications.
- Design and organize databases and data pipelines for R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance data.
- Support data analysis, statistical modeling, and the development of quantitative tools.
- Work on-site with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to define technical requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 3-5+ years of industry experience in software engineering, preferably in technical or scientific applications.
- Proficiency in compiled languages such as C, C++, or C#.
- Proficiency in scripted/interpreted languages such as Python or MATLAB.
- Experience with data analysis, modeling, and statistics.
- Strong database design and SQL querying skills.
- Ability to debug and extend existing software systems and modernize legacy codebases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal tools specifically for technical end users.
- Familiarity with metrology systems, hardware, and measurement workflows.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
- Experience with scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, BLAS) and computer vision tools (e.g., OpenCV).
- Familiarity with GUI frameworks like WPF (C#) or PyQt/PySide6 (Python).
- Experience with cloud and container-based environments such as AWS and Docker.
