About the role

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical authority for welding, providing guidance to fabrication facilities, development teams, and suppliers.
  • Lead engineering initiatives to resolve complex welding challenges and provide technical direction to cross-functional teams.
  • Develop, test, and improve welding products, processes, and prototypes using data-driven analysis.
  • Integrate manual, automated, and robotic welding systems with a focus on safety, scalability, and plant optimization.
  • Partner with internal and external suppliers to improve productivity, cost-effectiveness, and process capability.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for welding technologies, including NDT and automation, to drive global continuous improvement.
  • Mentor manufacturing engineers and operators to strengthen technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of metal brazing, resistance welding, aluminum welding, and laser welding.
  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing standards, procedures, and policies within fabrication environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation related to manufacturing and welding requirements.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex technical and equipment issues.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in Mossville, IL, with up to 30% domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with robotics and computer-controlled automated manufacturing systems.
  • Proven track record of managing significant engineering projects using formal project management methodologies.
  • Experience in vendor evaluation and cost-benefit analysis for automation planning.
