About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering ownership of ABS compounding and twin-screw extrusion processes, including parameter optimization and material consistency.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and support the scale-up of new or modified formulations from R&D to full-rate production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, throughput, and OEE while reducing scrap and downtime.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure stable and executable manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and maintain accurate process documentation, specifications, and ERP master data.
  • Support capital projects and cost-reduction initiatives related to process efficiency and energy usage.
  • Provide engineering guidance and support specifically for the 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM).

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Plastics Engineering.
  • 2+ years of process engineering or manufacturing experience in a plastics environment.
  • Hands-on experience with polymer compounding or extrusion (twin-screw preferred).
  • Proven experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes in a production environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of ERP or SAP systems.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience with ABS or engineering thermoplastics.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training or project experience.
  • Experience supporting off-shift manufacturing operations.
  • Familiarity with process validation concepts (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Experience supporting capital equipment projects.
