About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical engineering ownership of ABS compounding and twin-screw extrusion processes, including parameter optimization and material consistency.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts and support the scale-up of new or modified formulations from R&D to full-rate production.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, throughput, and OEE while reducing scrap and downtime.
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure stable and executable manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain accurate process documentation, specifications, and ERP master data.
- Support capital projects and cost-reduction initiatives related to process efficiency and energy usage.
- Provide engineering guidance and support specifically for the 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:45 PM to 11:15 PM).
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Plastics Engineering.
- 2+ years of process engineering or manufacturing experience in a plastics environment.
- Hands-on experience with polymer compounding or extrusion (twin-screw preferred).
- Proven experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes in a production environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Knowledge of ERP or SAP systems.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with ABS or engineering thermoplastics.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training or project experience.
- Experience supporting off-shift manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with process validation concepts (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Experience supporting capital equipment projects.
