Manufacturing Plastics Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Set up and start up plastic molding/extrusion machines and auxiliary equipment
• Optimize process parameters to maintain part quality and minimize cycle time and scrap
• Perform root cause analysis of molding defects such as flash, short shots, and warping
• Conduct in-process inspections using gauges, calipers, and other measurement tools
• Maintain accurate records of machine settings and process parameters
• Assist with process trials, tool qualifications, and sample runs
• Support preventive maintenance and minor mechanical repairs
• Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to implement corrective actions
• Train machine operators on process best practices and standard work

Requirements

• Certificate or associate degree in Plastics Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related field
• 3–5 years of experience with injection molding, extrusion, or blow molding
• Strong understanding of plastic materials, tooling, and processing principles
• Ability to read blueprints, part drawings, and technical documentation
• Proficiency with measurement devices like calipers and micrometers
• Mechanical aptitude for using hand tools and performing minor maintenance
• Computer proficiency in data entry and spreadsheets

Preferred Qualifications

• Working knowledge of Process Flow and Control Plans
