Manufacturing Operations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead and support manufacturing execution, process transfer, and operational performance across Corning’s external manufacturing network.
• Provide engineering support for fiber termination manufacturing processes, including setup, stability, and ongoing execution.
• Serve as the primary technical interface to external manufacturers, providing day-to-day troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Lead process validation activities, including characterization, capability assessments, PFMEA development, and control plan implementation.
• Partner with Quality and Operations to address nonconformances through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning to manage changes and support product lifecycles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 0-5 years of experience in a related engineering field.
• Exposure to manufacturing processes involving fiber or optical assemblies.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing process control, troubleshooting, and improvement.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working directly with external manufacturers or contract manufacturing sites.
• Experience with new product introduction (NPI), process transfer, or production ramp activities.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts.
• Experience using manufacturing data to drive yield, cost, or quality improvements.
