About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and support manufacturing execution, process transfer, and operational performance across Corning’s external manufacturing network.
- Provide engineering support for fiber termination manufacturing processes, including setup, stability, and ongoing execution.
- Serve as the primary technical interface to external manufacturers, providing day-to-day troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Lead process validation activities, including characterization, capability assessments, PFMEA development, and control plan implementation.
- Partner with Quality and Operations to address nonconformances through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Supply Chain, and Planning to manage changes and support product lifecycles.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 0-5 years of experience in a related engineering field.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes involving fiber or optical assemblies.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing process control, troubleshooting, and improvement.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with external manufacturers or contract manufacturing sites.
- Experience with new product introduction (NPI), process transfer, or production ramp activities.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts.
- Experience using manufacturing data to drive yield, cost, or quality improvements.
