Responsibilities

• Design and implement the layout, equipment selection, and operational procedures for a new machine shop
• Identify and procure necessary machinery, tools, and software
• Recruit, train, and mentor a team of manufacturing technicians and machinists
• Oversee daily operations and ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes using Lean and Six Sigma principles
• Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure compliance with defense industry standards
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products
• Ensure all machine shop operations comply with safety regulations and company policies

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with an emphasis on machine shop operations
• Proven experience building and managing a machine shop from the ground up
• Demonstrated experience managing a team of technicians and machinists
• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, or Fusion 360
• Deep understanding of CNC milling, turning, grinding, and EDM
• Knowledge of metrology, inspection techniques, and GD&T
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related engineering field
• Experience in the defense industry or high-precision manufacturing
