About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain LAN/WAN network infrastructure across manufacturing plants, warehouses, and corporate sites.
- Implement and manage high-speed core switching (10G/100G) using Arista, Juniper, and other enterprise platforms.
- Configure and optimize Layer 2/3 networking (LACP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF) and security controls via Palo Alto firewalls.
- Deploy and maintain Linux servers (Rocky Linux / RHEL) using automation tools like Ansible, MAAS, and Foreman.
- Monitor network and system performance (uptime, latency, bandwidth) using platforms like Grafana and Zabbix.
- Manage wireless infrastructure (Wi-Fi 6/6E) and ruggedized networking hardware for plant-floor environments.
- Partner with engineering, automation, and IT security teams to ensure reliable connectivity for production systems.
- Provide Tier 2/3 support for network and Linux incidents and participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in network and Linux infrastructure engineering, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Deep Linux expertise with Rocky Linux or RHEL, including administration of DNS, DHCP, and NFS.
- Hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls and security policy management.
- Proven ability to automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible or Terraform.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Experience with enterprise vendors such as Cisco, Arista, or Juniper.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability platforms (Grafana, Zabbix).
- Ability to work on-site on the plant floor and participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Python scripting experience for network automation and configuration management.
- Experience with cloud connectivity and hybrid architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Familiarity with MES platforms and their integration with enterprise IT.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and data center operations.
- Experience with SD-WAN solutions for multi-site connectivity.
