About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of Pattern makers and tool cleaners to ensure safety, quality, and productivity
- Oversee the design, fabrication, cleaning, and maintenance of over 500 tools and dies
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime
- Coordinate Pattern Shop activities with engineering, production, and maintenance teams
- Schedule engineering changes, maintenance repairs, and preventive maintenance work orders
- Manage inventory and ensure timely procurement of tools, dies, and related materials
- Schedule 3D scanning for tooling cycle checks and shop repairs
- Manage staffing schedules, including weekday and weekend overtime, holiday assignments, and various shifts
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in Pattern Shop design, fabrication, and maintenance
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and standards
- Familiarity with CAD software, CNC machines, and other Pattern Shop equipment
- Experience with 3D scanning and repair analysis
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and general computer proficiency
- Ability to work weekends and be assigned to afternoon or night shifts
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift materials up to 40 lbs in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or associate degree in Pattern making or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Pattern making, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Knowledge of foundries and cold-box processes
