About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support front-line leaders in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment
  • Learn to lead and develop hourly teams and drive daily production or maintenance activities
  • Utilize GM systems and processes, including Global Manufacturing Systems and SPQRCE
  • Assist with production operations, quality control, and material flow
  • Shadow skilled trades in troubleshooting and maintaining complex equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and problem-solving initiatives
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and material teams

Requirements

  • Active-Duty U.S. military status with approximately 180 days of service remaining
  • Eligibility for the DoD SkillBridge program
  • Approved candidate for Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) cohort 26-3
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Proven leadership experience in a military or civilian setting (e.g., squad leader, team chief)
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work on-site in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs periodically

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising employees in a highly structured environment
  • Exposure to manufacturing, maintenance, logistics, or quality operations
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement concepts
  • Knowledge of structured problem-solving methods like root cause analysis
  • Ability to read or understand technical drawings (electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic)
