Manufacturing Engineer

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills, lathes, and manual machining equipment to produce precision spacecraft components
• Program CNC machines and optimize toolpaths for accuracy and efficiency
• Use waterjet cutting systems to create precision plate parts and prototypes
• Perform drilling, tapping, reaming, and other fabrication tasks
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM tools
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to validate manufacturability and suggest design improvements
• Maintain machine tools, tooling libraries, fixtures, and shop equipment
• Follow company quality standards and document nonconformances

Requirements

• 5+ years of machining experience in aerospace, high-precision manufacturing, or robotics
• Strong proficiency operating CNC mills and lathes including setups and offsets
• Experience operating waterjet cutters
• Ability to read detailed engineering drawings with full GD&T
• Experience using precision metrology tools for inspecting tight-tolerance parts
• Ability to lift 40 lbs occasionally and perform hands-on shop work daily

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience programming CNC machines using CAM tools
• Background producing aerospace-quality components for vacuum or thermal environments
• Familiarity with welding, sheet-metal fabrication, and fixture building
• Experience with 5-axis machining
• Knowledge of material behavior, chip load, speeds/feeds, and coolant strategies
