About the role
Responsibilities
- Support externally funded engineering, prototyping, and manufacturing projects through the Center for Manufacturing & Technology Makerspace.
- Deliver applied engineering solutions for industry partners through contract work to generate revenue for the center.
- Develop prototypes, manufacture components, and operate advanced fabrication equipment.
- Translate client requirements into manufacturable designs and technical solutions.
- Collaborate with technical staff and student assistants to execute industry projects.
- Maintain high standards of quality, documentation, and timely project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM and prototype development.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining and advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in a busy laboratory and fabrication environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing, prototyping, or product development.
- Experience working with industry-sponsored engineering projects.
- Experience with additive manufacturing, robotics, or automation.
- Experience supervising student assistants in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
