About the role
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze manufacturability and costs associated with CNC machining
- Determine necessary design changes to meet builder specifications
- Define manufacturing processes, machine selection, cycle times, and setup costs
- Generate "should cost" estimates using in-house calculators and software
- Scrutinize manufacturing partner quotes for optimized material and process costs
- Negotiate with manufacturing partners to ensure competitive pricing
- Provide DFx feedback by studying 3D models and 2D prints
- Prepare RFQ packages based on partner capability and capacity
- Develop cost calculators and provide feedback to the automation software team
- Coordinate with logistics for packaging and shipping cost estimation
Requirements
- 6-8 years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience
- 4-year Mechanical Engineering degree
- Expertise in 3, 4, and 5-axis milling, turning, grinding, EDM, and gear hobbing
- Strong understanding of GD&T and CNC programming
- Deep knowledge of materials (stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.) and their properties
- Proficiency in heat treatment and secondary processes like anodizing and plating
- Experience with PPAP, ISO 9001, and AS9100D documentation
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
