About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical leader for weekend operations (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 pm - 6:00 am)
- Act as the technical anchor for the "5th Shift," ensuring safe and efficient production of high-temperature superconducting magnets
- Make high-quality decisions in ambiguous, high-pressure situations to balance production with safety and quality
- Train, mentor, and coach technicians on high-precision manufacturing processes
- Troubleshoot non-conformances in real time and escalate design or system failures appropriately
- Act as a critical feedback loop between weekend execution and weekday engineering teams to drive process improvements
- Maintain production rhythm and ensure technicians have the necessary tools, materials, and direction
Requirements
- BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent high-level technical experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
- Proficiency with NX (CAD) and Teamcenter (PLM)
- Experience with Jira, Slack, or Odoo (or similar ERP systems)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Dedication to safety in environments involving heat, noise, strong magnets, and high voltage
- Willingness to work the specified weekend night shift schedule
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years in high-complexity assembly environments
- Experience with insulation systems (e.g., stator winding, VPI processes, taping, high-voltage isolation)
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
