About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical leader for weekend operations (Friday–Sunday), ensuring safe and efficient production of high-temperature superconducting magnets.
- Make high-quality, real-time decisions in a fast-paced, First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) manufacturing environment.
- Troubleshoot non-conformances and resolve process drift independently while escalating design or system failures.
- Train, mentor, and coach technicians on high-precision manufacturing processes and complex engineering requirements.
- Act as a critical feedback loop between weekend execution and weekday engineering teams to drive process improvements.
- Maintain production rhythm by ensuring technicians have the necessary tools, materials, and clear direction.
Requirements
- BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent high-level technical experience).
- 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience.
- Proficiency with NX (CAD) and Teamcenter (PLM).
- Experience using Jira, Slack, or Odoo (or similar ERP systems).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and perform physical activities such as standing and stooping for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety in an environment involving heat, noise, strong magnets, and high voltage.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in high-complexity assembly environments.
- Experience with insulation systems (e.g., stator winding, VPI processes, taping, or high-voltage isolation).
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
