Manufacturing Engineer – Automation & Process Development

Responsibilities

• Formulate, test, and validate new manufacturing processes such as automated joining, dispensing, laser welding, and vision inspection.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes using robotics, custom tooling, vision systems, and PLCs.
• Sketch out concepts for automated assembly cells and fixtures.
• Draft functional specifications and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for external automation vendors.
• Act as the technical lead during vendor selections and manage machine builders.
• Drive Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at vendor facilities and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) during installation.
• Own the deployment, programming adjustments, troubleshooting, and final hand-off of automated equipment to the production team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automation, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience developing advanced manufacturing processes.
• Experience integrating automation, robotics, and vision systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing technical vendors and machine builders from specification through to delivery.
• Experience with FAT/SAT testing protocols.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the defence sector.
