Manufacturing Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Identify manufacturing operations suitable for automation based on safety, quality, and throughput
• Develop automation roadmaps and business cases to support production scaling
• Evaluate technologies including robotics, machine vision, and PLC-controlled systems
• Partner with Design Engineering to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and automation (DFMA/DFA)
• Manage automation suppliers and system integrators from concept through commissioning
• Lead equipment integration with factory infrastructure, MES systems, and production controls
• Support pilot builds, process debugging, and ramp-to-rate activities during production launch
• Drive improvements in OEE, yield, uptime, and cycle time

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing automation or process engineering
• Experience implementing automated systems in high-volume environments
• Strong understanding of robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and machine vision
• Experience with manufacturing process development, PFMEA, and validation methodologies
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
• Experience managing external automation vendors and integrators

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automated assembly or robotic material handling
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
• Experience with controls programming or industrial networking
• Knowledge of MES integration and Industry 4.0 concepts
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or robotics industries
