Manual Machinist Level 5

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine tools including saws, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders
• Machine metal work pieces to exact tolerances and specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions
• Determine speeds, feeds, cutting speeds, and depth of cut
• Select, position, and secure tools and work pieces in appropriate holding devices or fixtures
• Verify conformance of machined work pieces to specifications
• Operate bench grinders to sharpen tools
• Actively participate in advancing the facility's safety culture

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of related machining experience or training
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong mathematical proficiency, including geometry and trigonometry
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work in a loud environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts
