About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform wide-ranging, non-repetitive repair assignments in a reciprocating compressor repair service center using manual machine tools.
- Set up and operate manual machine equipment including lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, grinders, and other power machinery.
- Study blueprints, drawings, sketches, and diagrams to determine operation methods and sequences.
- Fabricate precision parts, tooling, and fixtures to exacting tolerances.
- Perform close tolerance machining operations such as forming, boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping, and honing.
- Conduct self-inspections using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and gauges to ensure quality.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform routine service and maintenance on equipment.
- Prepare recommendations for improvements in methods or processes to increase productivity and quality.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of professional machining experience.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet customer expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Apprenticeship training or additional manual machine shop experience.
- Previous experience in reciprocating compressor repair.
