About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform wide-ranging, non-repetitive repair assignments in a reciprocating compressor repair service center using manual machine tools.
  • Set up and operate manual machine equipment including lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, grinders, and other power machinery.
  • Study blueprints, drawings, sketches, and diagrams to determine operation methods and sequences.
  • Fabricate precision parts, tooling, and fixtures to exacting tolerances.
  • Perform close tolerance machining operations such as forming, boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping, and honing.
  • Conduct self-inspections using micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, and gauges to ensure quality.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and perform routine service and maintenance on equipment.
  • Prepare recommendations for improvements in methods or processes to increase productivity and quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of professional machining experience.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments including micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to meet customer expectations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship training or additional manual machine shop experience.
  • Previous experience in reciprocating compressor repair.
