About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior liaison between the agency, elected officials, community stakeholders, and other governmental entities
  • Apprise the Borough Commissioner of potential issues related to transportation initiatives and projects
  • Represent the agency at community board meetings, presentations, and public hearings
  • Coordinate with district offices including Assembly, Senate, City Council, and Borough President offices
  • Resolve or facilitate the resolution of community and stakeholder issues
  • Prepare written responses and status updates to constituents and elected officials
  • Supervise subordinate staff involved in community liaison functions and multimodal programs
  • Oversee the administration of the speed hump database

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Transportation Policy, Transportation Planning, Environmental Policy, Technology Policy, Public Administration, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Master's degree can substitute for 1 year of experience
  • Ph.D. can substitute for up to 2 years of experience
