Mandarin Teacher (Prep School)

Responsibilities

• Inspire pupils in the learning of Mandarin from Pre-prep to Key Stage 3
• Instil an understanding of important Chinese cultural features and traditions
• Design and deliver differentiated activities to cater to a wide range of student abilities
• Ensure effective monitoring, recording, assessment, and reporting in accordance with school policies
• Promote the use of ICT within the teaching of Mandarin
• Partner with department colleagues to design and improve the curriculum
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants in the Pre-prep to support language delivery
• Foster professional relationships and communication with parents through the parent portal and meetings
• Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school and support pastoral systems
• Celebrate student work through school displays and cultural performances such as Lunar New Year

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mandarin with PGCE or equivalent qualification
• At least two years of experience teaching Mandarin in international schools
• Proven ability to teach Mandarin as a first, second, and foreign language
• Experience teaching spoken and written Chinese to children of all nationalities, from beginners to native speakers
• An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working within an international school setting
