About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all editorial aspects of NHPR's flagship daily news magazines, Morning Edition and All Things Considered.
  • Manage a team of hosts, producers, interns, and fellows, providing mentorship, training, and performance management.
  • Serve as lead editor on stories, interviews, and broadcast segments from initial pitch through final draft.
  • Guarantee the on-time, flawless delivery of audio content across multiple platforms.
  • Manage live and remote broadcasts, including election night coverage, debates, and special programming.
  • Collaborate with digital and audience teams to translate audio segments into engaging digital and social content.
  • Lead administrative newsroom tasks including hiring, onboarding, and scheduling.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in audio journalism, including reporting, producing, and/or editing for broadcast.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading and managing a team.
  • Excellent editorial judgment and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • B.A. in a relevant field or equivalent professional work experience.
