Managing Director Tax

Responsibilities

• Set the long-term enterprise-wide tax strategy for Alaska Air Group, aligning tax outcomes with corporate strategy, capital allocation, and financial plans.
• Provide executive oversight for all tax planning, global structuring, financial modeling, and risk posture.
• Lead and develop a high-performing tax leadership team across direct, indirect, international, and tax technology functions.
• Serve as the executive owner of enterprise tax risk management, establishing governance and ensuring audit readiness.
• Oversee tax accounting and financial reporting, including GAAP tax provision and maintaining a strong SOX control environment.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the CFO and Executive Committee on strategic initiatives and transactions.
• Drive modernization of tax processes and technology to improve cycle time and forecast accuracy.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive experience in tax administration, including enterprise-level or multi-jurisdictional leadership.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (or willingness to attain one within six years).
• Deep expertise in corporate income tax financial reporting and tax planning.
• Proven success in driving enterprise transformation or large-scale tax technology programs.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree and CPA designation.
• Previous experience in the commercial airline industry.
