About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement legal strategies for non-competition events including Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Torch Relays, and Fan Experiences
  • Negotiate a high volume of agreements including talent, IP licenses, venue, vendor, and marketing agreements
  • Provide time-sensitive legal advice to business teams during strategy meetings
  • Advise on event-related policies, processes, and standard operating procedures
  • Manage communications and relationships with strategic partners, broadcasters, and sponsors
  • Supervise and assist in the career development of junior attorneys and paralegals
  • Ensure compliance with international, federal, state, and local laws
  • Manage outside counsel for specialty matters such as music clearances

Requirements

  • Minimum 7+ years of hands-on attorney experience in transactional entertainment, live events, or production legal
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university
  • License to practice law and good standing with the California State Bar
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property, corporate law, and business contracting
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, unstructured "start-up" environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience overseeing music clearances
  • Background in marketing legal or government negotiations
  • Experience in both law firm and in-house entertainment environments
