Manager, Union Payroll

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Union Payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly pay for union and freelance employees.
• Drive process standardization, automation, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with SOX controls and collective bargaining agreements.
• Manage internal and external stakeholder queries through cross-functional collaboration with Labor Relations, HR, IT, and Legal.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and use metrics to benchmark performance and improve service delivery.
• Coach and mentor team members to drive engagement and optimize operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage, hour, and tax regulations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading payroll processes for a large volume of employees in a complex, multi-state, multi-entity organization.
• Strong working knowledge of FLSA and federal, state, and local wage and hour/tax regulations.
• Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with V-Lookups and Pivot Tables.
• Proven experience in team management and building collaborative working relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple commitments and adapt to changing priorities in an ambiguous environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a media or entertainment industry union payroll environment.
• Knowledge of IBEW, IATSE, AFTRA, and/or NABET collective bargaining agreements.
• Experience using Workday Payroll.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation.
