Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of site reliability engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and career development
- Mature SRE practices including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, toil reduction, and blameless post-mortems
- Oversee the end-to-end incident management lifecycle, including detection, response, and resolution
- Design on-call rotations, runbooks, and escalation procedures
- Drive reductions in MTTR and MTTD through improved observability and intelligent automation
- Build automation to eliminate manual operational work such as provisioning, deployment, and scaling
- Implement chaos engineering practices to validate system resilience
- Partner with engineering and product teams to embed reliability into the development lifecycle
- Collaborate with observability teams to ensure comprehensive instrumentation and actionable dashboards
- Measure and report reliability improvements to technical and executive stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering
- At least 1 year in people management or tech lead experience
- Hands-on experience running production systems on Azure (AKS, App Services, Service Bus, Event Grid, Azure Monitor)
- Proven track record implementing SRE practices and modern observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana)
- Experience leading incident response for high-severity production issues
- Strong background in automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep)
- Production-grade experience with Kubernetes container orchestration
- Ability to automate workflows using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or Go
- Strong communication skills for technical and executive audiences
- Data-driven approach to decision making
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI coding assistants and CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD)
- Knowledge of distributed systems patterns
- Exposure to AIOps platforms or using LLMs for operational automation
