About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as People Manager for the Platform Support team in Japan, overseeing hiring, talent development, and performance management
  • Serve as the Point of Contact between the Japan-based organization and global teams in the US and India
  • Define the Platform Support roadmap, OKRs, and KPIs to drive continuous organizational improvement
  • Develop and execute strategies for AI-driven operational automation, standardization, and Developer Experience enhancement
  • Design and implement scalable global operational models, including "Follow the Sun" processes
  • Collaborate with Platform Engineering and application development teams to improve reliability and operational quality
  • Bridge communication between Japanese engineering teams and global stakeholders to align strategies and best practices

Requirements

  • Experience as a People Manager for an engineering team
  • Proven track record leading technical projects involving multiple departments and teams
  • Experience collaborating with global teams across different cultures and time zones
  • Proficiency in both Japanese and English for business-level communication
  • Experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, or large-scale service operations using Public Cloud
  • Experience in operational improvement using AI or automation technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience launching a Platform Engineering organization
  • Experience designing operational models utilizing BPO or Technical Operations Support
  • Experience implementing SLO/SLI, Error Budgets, or Operational Readiness Reviews (ORR)
  • Proficiency with Terraform, Python, or Go for automation
  • Experience managing distributed global engineering teams
  • Experience with budget management and vendor management
