Manager, Scaled Abuse Countermeasures and Research

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the SCAR team of Scaled Abuse Scientists
• Set a vision for the team focusing on automation and ML-driven detection
• Define scaled abuse north-star metrics and build a roadmap
• Establish a research program to systematically answer questions about attacker operations
• Partner with Safety ML to feed signals into model features and pipelines
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, Policy, Legal, and Revenue teams
• Coach, hire, and grow technical talent
• Communicate attacker dynamics and economic incentives to senior leadership

Requirements

• 2+ years of people management experience leading technical teams (engineers, ML, or data scientists)
• 4+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, fraud, anti-abuse, or adjacent adversarial domains
• Demonstrated ability to drive ML and automation adoption in a safety or operations context
• Strong analytical skills with fluency in SQL and Python
• Ability to apply first-principles and behavioral-economics reasoning to adversarial systems
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leveraging LLMs or AI agents for incident response or investigation automation
• Experience tackling scaled abuse at large social platforms or marketplaces
• Threat intelligence research background
• Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
