About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for the Risk Framework & Data team, setting direction and building team capability.
- Own MIGA's overall risk framework and risk appetite statement, ensuring alignment with capital adequacy and financial sustainability.
- Support product innovation by providing risk perspectives and analytical grounding for new product development.
- Oversee portfolio risk management, including monitoring performance, identifying early warning signals, and providing recommendations to senior management.
- Provide strategic oversight of credit risk functions, including SOE credit assessments and reinsurance counterparty ratings.
- Manage the agency's data and analytics capabilities to support risk reporting, decision-making, and continuous improvement in analytical tooling.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in risk management.
- Deep expertise in designing and operating risk frameworks, risk appetite statements, and exposure-limit frameworks within a financial institution.
- Proven experience with credit risk assessment and rating methodologies for sovereigns, sub-sovereigns, state-owned enterprises, or reinsurance counterparties.
- Demonstrated experience in financial and portfolio risk management within emerging markets.
- Familiarity with using data and analytics to support portfolio monitoring and risk reporting.
- Strong leadership experience managing diverse professional teams and driving institutional change.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical matters to non-technical audiences.
