About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of building infrastructure, utilities, and manufacturing equipment.
- Lead and supervise maintenance engineers, technicians, and support personnel to ensure safe and reliable facility operations.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and recommend facility improvements, upgrades, or cost-saving initiatives.
- Forecast and manage the facilities department budget, including tracking expenses and managing vendor contracts.
- Plan and execute facility improvement projects from concept to completion, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment changes in accordance with SOPs and cGMP regulations.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies and provide support during after-hours or weekends as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of facilities maintenance experience, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and manufacturing equipment.
- 5-10 years of relevant work experience (5 years with a Bachelor's degree, or 10 years with a high school diploma).
- Strong knowledge of cGMP manufacturing and basic chemical safety procedures.
- Familiarity with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) regulations and standard laboratory practices.
- Demonstrated experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintenance documentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated manufacturing industries.
- Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with Automation, PLCs, SCADA, Controls, and Vision systems.
