About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as the direct point of contact for the FMA in New Zealand and deliver the regional regulatory engagement strategy
  • Manage regulatory compliance components for license authorization processes to support group expansion
  • Serve as a key stakeholder for license applications, business plan updates, and regulatory information requests
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance and risk/breach reporting obligations are maintained for regional entities
  • Support and manage on-site exams and inspections in collaboration with the Legal, Risk & Compliance team
  • Advise the business on regulatory change initiatives and the management of compliance risks associated with new laws
  • Develop policies, processes, and guidance regarding regulatory risk obligations for the first-line business
  • Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program through targeted and thematic reviews
  • Conduct compliance training for employees and specific business areas as required

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law or analogous compliance qualifications
  • 10+ years of regulatory compliance experience within financial institutions, FinTech, or legal/consulting firms
  • Deep familiarity with financial regulatory laws, rules, and industry best practices across the ANZ region, specifically New Zealand
  • Proven experience dealing with regulators such as the FMA and DIA
  • Data proficiency with the ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
  • Experience developing or maintaining compliance programs, preferably regarding payments activity
  • Ability to operate strategically and solve complex regulatory challenges in a fast-paced environment
