About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage the plant quality assurance function, including the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety systems.
- Direct and coordinate quality assurance activities and interface with the group office.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance standard operating procedures (SOPs), methods, and equipment to meet customer requirements.
- Lead quality investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective preventive and corrective actions.
- Prepare, coordinate, and conduct internal and external audits, ensuring timely closure of all identified action items.
- Oversee the Hold for Inspection (HFI) and embargo processes to reduce or eliminate occurrences.
- Implement quality training and development programs to maintain technical competence within the department.
- Maintain a safe work environment by performing inspections, facilitating safety meetings, and investigating accidents.
- Analyze quality data, including goals, defective materials, and customer claims, to advise plant management on continuous improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of job-related experience.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, BRC, ISO, FSSC, and HACCP.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to handle occupational hazards such as high noise levels and chemical exposure.
- Proficiency in using computers to access, input, and retrieve information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with pest control programs.
- Certifications related to food safety and quality management systems.
