Manager, Planning Safety

Responsibilities

• Initiate and manage transportation safety planning initiatives to meet regional and statewide goals of eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries
• Serve as the agency's subject matter expert on transportation safety planning
• Oversee consultant-supported studies and provide technical support to subregions and municipalities
• Facilitate planning studies, develop policy recommendations, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
• Coordinate research and briefing documents on safety-related topics, including vulnerable populations and active transportation
• Represent the agency on external safety-focused committees and forums
• Integrate safety initiatives into priority areas such as complete streets and capital investment efforts

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in planning, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field
• 6 years of applied experience in transportation safety data analysis, collaboration, and coordination
• Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Strong database management and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in transportation planning, public policy, engineering, or a related technical field
• Specialization in transportation technology planning
• Demonstrated program management and organizational skills
